Yangshuo - en

The next stage of our trip is Yangshuo, a small touristic town sixtyish kilometers away from Guilin. But instead of going there by bus, part of the way is on a river with incredibly spectacular sights. After a short car trip, we reach the starting point of our cruise...
Then we climb in a small bambou boat like this one...
And for two hours, we go between foggy mountains worthy of the best Chinese landscape paitings...
 ...
 ...
 ...
The advantage of January is that we are almost alone on the very touristic Li river, and to see even more dramatic landscape than what we'd see with a blue sky, such as this rising dragon...

The problem of course is that it is very cold.
Two hours without moving, a very humid weather, and even the bus to town is not heaten !
Because of this Damia gets a trachea infection. We go see the Chinese doctor, get medicine ; thankfully a very helpful receptionist from the hotel accompanied us to translate. No wait to see a doctor at the Yangshuo hospital, by the way.

Thankfully we ate by the fireplace,
Then had a warm, cosy room.
On the next day, I went alone on a bike trip across the Yangshuo countryside, under the rain and cold.
The landscape were like those of the Li river, but with more ricefields and (a bit) fewer water.
The cities may be much more modern looking than in Vietnam, but the countryside doesn't look wealthier. And since the Chinese do not add colourfull decorations to their houses, the small villages look drab and sad...

Yangshuo itself is a small town for mostly western tourists, handicraft stores, restaurants with wifi and live music... A much nicer place than Guilin for a few days. If only the weather was better !
The shoeshine is very persistent !
You can't play cards inside apparently ; the cold doesn't stop the more avid gamblers.
A small memory of Paris ? Alésia street is a few hundred meters from where we live...
And the next day we take the bus, warmer this time, to go back to Guilin and take the train to Guangzhou.
P.S. Writing blogposts from China is very slow, so further posts will wait until we reach Korea in a few days...
